About Sig Ep

The Mississippi Alpha chapter of Sigma Phi Epsilon has deep roots through out the University of Mississippi. Sig Ep has watched men grow and succeed over the years. Our goal as a chapter is to provide an atmosphere where young men are challenged to accept responsibilities, to mature socially, lead amongst peers, and prepare for life after their college experience is over.

Life at Sig Ep

The focal point of the fraternity is the newly renovated house. It is a place where brothers come daily to eat meals, hang out between classes, and host the many events thrown each year. Our house sleeps 25 people each with their own individual room. The Sig Ep house is positioned no more than 100 yards from campus.

Athletics

Sigma Phi Epsilon holds athletics in high regard at Ole Miss. Competing along side somebody is a great way to build camaraderie. Sig Ep currently has members on the football, lacrosse, and rugby team. We also field teams in the Greek intramural league with sports such as basketball, football, soccer, and softball. Sigma Phi Epsilon considers them selves the team to beat in every sport.

Social

The Social Life at Sig Ep is filled with socials, swaps, and semiannual formals. The entire fall semester is dedicated to football season. Each home home weekend starts with Friday night band parties ranging from local bands to big time artists. Highlights of the spring semester include Sig Ep's Wild Wild West, formal in New Orleans, and Parents/ Alumni weekend during Oxford's Double Decker festival.

Spiritual Life

Sig Ep was founded on Christian principles in 1901. This runs strong through our chapter today. Each weekly chapter meeting begins with a devotion prepared by the Chaplain. Both our brothers and pledges are encouraged to attend regular Monday bible studies led by Sig Ep Alumni/Guest Speakers. Many Sig Eps attend and hold positions including Campus Crusade and RUF. As you can see, spirituality is an important aspect of our fraternity and is evident in the values we uphold.

Philanthropy

One of the greatest attributes that a future husband, father, and leader can offer is his dedication of service to others. Sigma Phi Epsilon finds it an honor and a responsibility to make a lasting difference in the great community that has given us so much. For years, Sig Ep has encouraged each brother to get involved with the Oxfords Veterans Home. We have supported several programs in the past and will continue our assistance with the annual Jean Jones Walk/Run for cancer.
